William Blair has been a Gold Sponsor with an annual gift of $5,000 for many years. Recently, they provided us with a community grant in support of our SunAWARE on Boston Harbor Islands project. In 2018, their grant helped us reach thousands of staff, tourists, and visitors in Boston and on the Harbor Islands. CMPF provided an in-service on skin cancer prevention for the Boston based Wm. Blair team and they joined us in providing sunscreen and education on the Rose Kennedy Greenway. A special thanks to Jason Ader, a foundation friend and Wm. Blair employee, who has has been our biggest proponent. We hope to continue this valuable relationship for years to come.
In 2015, Ms. Liz Englinton, founder and owner of SnapperRock, reached out to us because she was looking for an ally in skin cancer prevention for children. Over the years, we have forged a wonderful partnership and have worked together on multiple projects. SnapperRock a line of high-end swimwear for children and adults is sold online and at resorts worldwide. SnapperRock has been a corporate sponsor since day 1 and presently is a Gold Sponsor providing us with both a cash donation and product. In 2018, SnapperRock and CMPF both celebrated their 15th anniversary in business. In recognition of this milestone, SanpperRock released a baby flap hat with both of our logos for free distribution. CMPF and SnapperRock have provided hundreds of these hats to infants and babies across the globe.
In 2003, Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Roche provided an initial grant of $50,000 to begin our sun safety school program. At that time, Mr. Roche provided very valuable advice regarding running a business, “don’t try to do it alone. “ These words have rung in my ears as I have sought board and advisory council members, donors, sponsors, nonprofit partners, staff, and foundation friends. Since the beginning, Roche Bros and the Roche Family have provided an annual gift and whole-heartedly supported our work in skin cancer prevention. Since the death of Mr. Roche, his wife Barbara has continued the giving as a Platinum Sponsor. We are incredibly grateful to the Roche family for their understanding of our mission, to prevent skin cancer one child at a time through education and advocacy.
Mary Mills Barrow has been a long-term supporter of Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation. Ms. Maguire-Eisen and Ms. Barrow first met in 2006 which was the beginning of a fabulous friendship and collaboration. Ms. Barrow coined the SunAWARE acronym for her award winning book, Sun Protection for Life. She was the lead author on three SunAWARE children’s books, Pretty Prom, Lake Vacation, and Danger at Grave’s Light. The first two won the prestigious American Academy of Dermatology Gold Triangle Award for Community Service. Mary Barrow was the founder of the SunAWARE International Foundation that she passed along to CMPF in 2014 when she decided to pursue writing fulltime. Educational Dimensions is an education consultation company specializing in continuing education for registered nurses in Orlando, Florida. They have been long time supporters of our organization providing discounted and gratis services for our local skin cancer workshops and corporate sponsorships over the years ranging from a Bronze to Gold status.
South Shore Skin Center (SSSC) has been a corporate sponsor of Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation since 2007. The partners have provided an annual gift, as well as auction items for our fundraisers. They have provided discounted office space for our business and contributed to our 2018 Capital Campaign designed to expand services. Their staff has volunteered as board members, advisors, committee members, and event volunteers. Dr. Kate Ayers arranged for CMPF to be the recipient of the Scituate Yacht Club annual fundraiser in 2017. South Shore Skin Center is a loyal partner and supporter. Eastern Bank has built a legacy of investing in the communities they serve and helping its customers, communities and employees to thrive and grow.
