Pattie Day is a mom and Teacher’s Aide from Ilon, a small town in Central New York. Pattie tragically lost her young son, Jack, to melanoma in 2015.

Jack was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital where the Day family met Krista Rubin, a nurse practitioner and board member of the Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation.  Following Jack’s death, Pattie turned to CMPF to request that we bring our SunAWARE Program for her school community.  This program reached over 2,200 students in her school district by educating them about sun protection and skin cancer prevention. In addition, Pattie represented CMPF on Capitol Hill to share Jack’s story. As a foundation Advisor she has found a wonderful way to honor her son and to try to prevent other families from suffering  the same loss that her family did.  She is truly making a difference.
